About the Role

Farrans Construction is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team and play a key role in the delivery of major construction projects across the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project costs and ensure accurate financial reporting to achieve commercial results.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply chain and clients to drive project success.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring financial and contractual compliance.
  • Place supply chain orders in accordance with procurement schedules and ensure timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring compliance with contract conditions.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget and provide analysis of cost overruns and projections.
  • Explore opportunities to maximize value and minimize cost, and liaise with clients on commercial issues.
  • Identify legitimate contractual claim situations and prepare suitable documentation and notifications to clients.
  • Strive for continuous improvement within the commercial process and area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a construction QS role working on major projects.
  • 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Strong understanding of modern construction techniques, plant, and equipment, and logistical needs/issues.
  • Strong understanding of construction contract conditions.
  • Appreciation of the impact of cost in the completion of a program and development of construction solutions.
  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.
