Job Description

Role Overview

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions is seeking a skilled CAD Design Engineer to join our team in York. As a CAD Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and finalizing designs ready for manufacture and construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple projects from start to finish, demonstrating attention to detail and taking ownership of each project.
  • Conduct thorough research to support project designs, providing in-depth details as required.
  • Communicate effectively with production and installation teams to ensure all projects are manufactured and installed to the highest standard.
  • Produce construction issue drawings from information provided by the commercial team, site teams, clients, and other subcontractors.
  • Consult with clients and other subcontractors throughout the design phase to coordinate the design of our works with other subcontractor works.
  • Collaborate with the commercial team and design manager to ensure projects are designed on budget and within the agreed scope of works.
  • Produce fabrication drawings, cutting schedules, and assembly details using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Liaise with site installation teams to ensure designs are interpreted correctly and address any on-site design issues that may arise.
  • Attend design meetings with clients to discuss design requirements.
  • Produce manuals for the end client to use for maintenance of supplied products.

Requirements

  • Previous CAD design experience is essential, ideally with 2-3 years of relevant experience and demonstrated in a portfolio of previous work.
  • Experience producing design and fabrication drawings in a construction and manufacture environment is advantageous.
  • 2+ years' experience with Autodesk Inventor (or SolidWorks) in a professional environment.
  • 2+ years' experience with AutoCAD in a professional environment (construction-related preferable).
  • Strong understanding of designing to suit manufacturing and installation constraints.
  • Experience with sheet metal is desirable.
  • Good team player and flexible approach to work.
  • Proficiency with standard proprietary PC software such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Good communication, numeracy, and IT skills.
  • Current driving license (a must due to location).
