Job Description

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Siemens Mobility in the UK. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of Overhead Line Electrification (OLE) projects and ensuring that designs meet the required standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Design Leadership**: Lead the design team in the development of OLE projects, ensuring that designs are consistent, high-quality, and meet the required standards.
  • **Design Delivery**: Deliver complete OLE design tasks, including system design, basic design, layout design, and allocation design.
  • **Independent Checking**: Conduct independent checking of design documents as required.
  • **Site Surveys**: Plan and execute detailed site surveys.
  • **Option Development**: Undertake option development for projects.
  • **Technical and Safety Standards**: Maintain technical and safety standards in all aspects of design work to ensure successful project implementation and future reliability.
  • **Collaboration**: Collaborate with colleagues and customers to ensure coherent design and customer satisfaction.
  • **Safety Responsibilities**: Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation, and Company procedures.
  • **Project Handback**: Produce As-built information to support project handback.

Requirements

  • **Education**: BSc, BEng, or MEng degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
  • **Experience**: Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in design & implementation for all aspects of Overhead Line Electrification Projects, with emphasis on the preparation and checking of designs.
  • **Skills**: Experience with OLE software design/modeling tools and CAD/Bentley design systems. Knowledge of UK overhead line systems in use on Network Rail infrastructure.
  • **Knowledge**: Good knowledge of Network Rail, British and International Standards. Understanding of Network Rail GRIP Stages. Understanding of the key interfaces between design, construction, and commissioning.
  • **Certifications**: Good knowledge of Project Safety requirements including CDM Regulations.
