At Norse Group, we offer a comprehensive testing and consultancy service tailored for the construction sector, conducting a diverse array of assessments both on-site and in our laboratory while providing expert guidance to our clients.

We are seeking a dedicated Project Technician to become a vital part of our laboratory team. This role will be based at our Norwich facility and will play a crucial role in the execution of the surface dressing design initiative within the pavement and structures service area of our highways laboratory.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting data on-site and inputting it into our Geographic Information System (GIS) to fulfill client objectives for upcoming surface dressing projects. Additional responsibilities will include entering historical surfacing data into the GIS, utilizing CAD for data input, and manipulating data using Excel. The position also encompasses elements of project management within the pavement and structures team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Surface Treatments Engineer in executing the surface dressing design initiative.
  • Maintain and enhance the Geographic Information System (GIS) relevant to surface treatments and surfacing.
  • Develop GIS plans for the supply chain.
  • Represent the Surface Treatments Engineer at monthly progress meetings when necessary.
  • Aid the Project Engineer (Pavement & Structures) in generating reports regarding road and structure investigations.
  • Provide support across all laboratory service areas as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Engineer to deliver reports to existing and potential clients.
  • Oversee site operations, including traffic management and subcontractor coordination, ensuring safety and compliance with utility regulations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to adhere to established guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with confidence in engaging various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent Norse Group positively when interacting with external organizations.
  • Capable of managing personal workload effectively, multitasking, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Skilled in maintaining accurate records.
  • Willingness to work in diverse environmental conditions, including outdoor construction sites.
  • Flexibility to travel outside of the region, including potential overnight stays and unsociable hours.
  • Valid UK Driving License with C1+E entitlement.
