Position Overview
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and passionate Nurse to become part of the Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT) within the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This role is designed for a fixed term/secondment, allowing the successful candidate to contribute to a well-respected team that provides expert palliative care across acute healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
As a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be expected to:
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge in specialist palliative care.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills and emotional resilience.
- Manage your caseload with a high degree of autonomy.
- Make informed decisions and prioritize effectively within a team that operates a 7-day service, including weekend shifts on a rotational basis.
- Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to service enhancement, education, and audit initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- Registered Nurse (Level 1) status.
- A degree or progress towards one in nursing or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years post-registration experience, including 2 years in palliative or oncology care.
- Non-medical prescribing qualification.
