The Junction is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing support and guidance to children and young people facing mental health challenges.

As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including therapists, educators, and social workers. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of tasks designed to create a safe and supportive environment for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will conduct thorough assessments to evaluate the risks to both yourself and others.
  • You will diligently learn, comprehend, and adhere to the established protocols within our educational service.
  • Collaborate with senior staff in identifying appropriate referrals for children and young people requiring specialized support.
  • Actively participate in regular managerial and clinical supervision sessions, ensuring a clear understanding of your scope of practice and working safely within those boundaries.
  • Develop proficiency in a variety of interventions focused on providing information and support for evidence-based psychological treatments, primarily guided self-help techniques.
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage your assigned caseload while adhering to team requirements.
  • Attend multidisciplinary and multi-agency meetings related to referrals or children and young people currently in treatment. This will provide valuable learning opportunities through discussions with supervisors or allow you to directly contribute to their care.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all training and clinical activities, adhering to both health and education service protocols. Utilize these records and outcome data to inform decision-making processes.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all data collection requirements.
  • Embrace a collaborative approach, involving relevant stakeholders when necessary. This includes working closely with teachers, educational staff, parents, children, young people, and the wider community to enhance access to mental health services.
  • Contribute to the development of individual or group clinical materials or training resources. As your competence grows, you will have the opportunity to create further such materials.
