Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the team to deliver high-quality care and drive service improvement in the context of recent changes to the commissioning landscape.

The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Director for the Children and Young People Care Group and will be responsible for providing strategic lead in driving service improvement.

The role involves providing Community Paediatric care in out-patient services, working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and covering colleagues during periods of annual and study leave.

The post-holder will undertake administrative duties, including those associated with patient care and the running of the clinical department, and will help in the supervision and teaching of nursing and junior medical staff.

The successful candidate will participate actively in quality improvement activity/clinical audit and implement its results.

The post-holder will also undertake, exceptionally, to perform additional duties in emergency and unforeseen circumstances as are essential for continuity of patient care.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have achieved competencies relating to General Paediatric Training and will have achieved competencies equivalent to higher specialist Paediatric Training, including 3 years in Community Child Health.

The candidate will also have experience in other areas related to Community Child Health, including GP, child mental health, public health, Paediatric neurology or neurodisability, enuresis management, and sleep disorders.

The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
