As a Market Integrity Surveillance Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring trading activities through the analysis and investigation of automated alerts to detect potential compliance risks related to market integrity.
- Reviewing transactions by investigating automated alerts to uncover possible financial crime risks.
- Assessing business communications through the examination of automated alerts to identify potential compliance risks regarding market integrity.
- Collaborating effectively with fellow analysts within the Centre of Excellence (CoE).
- Partnering with Senior Analysts to initiate the escalation of alerts or investigations into suspicious activities, providing support throughout the investigation process.
- Exhibiting a systematic approach to documenting and planning investigations.
- Utilizing current reports and information effectively to derive insights that enhance daily operations.
- Employing tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and Alteryx to manage, manipulate, and present data in a meaningful manner.
- Identifying and suggesting improvements based on the data available within the tools and metrics.
- Developing a comprehensive understanding of market integrity risks and the trading practices of Shell Trading & Supply (T&S).
We are interested in candidates who possess the following skills and experience:
- Understanding of Market Abuse Regulations: Basic knowledge of market integrity, financial crime regulations, and conduct expectations.
- Essential Soft Skills: Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a knack for conveying information clearly and persuasively to ensure timely task completion. Strong report writing and analytical skills are essential for processing information, making informed judgments, and presenting findings succinctly.
- Trade Surveillance Experience: Basic understanding of market integrity risks and their manifestations in the Oil and Energy sectors, supported by knowledge of past cases and the firm's operations.
- Product and Market Acumen: Foundational knowledge of oil and energy products and their trading mechanisms, including logistics in physical markets, enabling the identification of unusual behaviors. (Desirable: proficient understanding of products and trading practices.)
- Data Analysis and Manipulation: Strong data manipulation and analytical capabilities to evaluate large datasets for trends and anomalies that support investigations into trading activities.
