About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physiotherapy Team Lead to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Physiotherapy Team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day operational management of the Neurosurgery Physiotherapy team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
  • Motivate and empower patients to undertake their treatment programme, maximizing their rehabilitation potential.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation, adhering to legal and departmental requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication with all physiotherapy staff on professional matters.
  • Resolve verbal complaints and report formal complaints, incidents, and accidents to physiotherapy management.
  • Determine clinical diagnoses and physiotherapy treatment, maintaining records.
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and therapy colleagues.
Service Delivery and Improvement
  • Be responsible for the learning and development of your team, ensuring they engage in regular in-service training.
  • Plan and undertake the measurement and evaluation of practice and performance through clinical audit and studies.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management.
  • Assist in the proposal and implementation of Trust Policy and Service Developments.
  • Supervise and appraise Band 6 and Band 5 staff and undergraduate students.
  • Comply with and ensure implementation of all trust policies and procedures.
People Management and Development
  • Be a clinical lead in the day-to-day operational management, supervision, and coordination of the in-patient Neurological Physiotherapy team.
  • Support the physiotherapy management in matters of grievance and disciplinary action.
  • Supervise undergraduate physiotherapy students on clinical placements.
  • Lead interdisciplinary projects to develop the service.
Patient Care Delivery
  • Flexibly plan and prioritize own time and that of the in-patient Neuroscience and neuro surgical Physiotherapy team.
Learning and Development
  • Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post.
  • Identify own learning needs and jointly plan training requirements with your line manager.
Person Specification

Essential

  • BSc/MSc Physiotherapy
  • Member of HCPC
  • Completed at least 2 years B5 experience, including acute Respiratory, MSK, acute Neuro and surgical.
  • Specialised in Neuro Sciences with evidence.
  • Experience with HR Policies.

Desirable

  • Post grad Masters or relevant e.g. Darzi within Neuro.
  • Evidence of QI projects.
  • Evidence of emotional intelligence.
