With a workforce of approximately 13,000, we operate across multiple production and engineering sites as well as over 70 service locations throughout Europe, North America, and North Africa.

As a subsidiary of Stadler, Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) specializes in providing maintenance services for an expanding client base in the UK. With over 150 new Stadler trains set to enhance the UK Rail Network in the coming years, we are on the brink of an exciting phase in our journey within the UK Rail Industry.

We are seeking a Strategic Commercial and Legal Advisor to become a vital part of our Commercial Support team. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Support, this role will entail offering guidance and assistance on commercial and legal matters impacting the organization. You will collaborate with the Head of Commercial Support on all UK contracts, providing valuable support to colleagues and managers regarding contract modifications and the commercial and legal facets of organizational transformations. Additionally, you will lend your expertise on specific projects and address any commercial or legal disputes that may arise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and support on commercial and legal matters affecting the organization.
  • Manage contract variations and organizational changes, developing solutions and recommendations.
  • Analyze issues and propose a range of solutions to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Lead and execute self-contained projects or segments of larger initiatives to achieve organizational goals, facilitating necessary changes in policy or practice.
  • Support the Head of Commercial in advising the management team on legal challenges, claims, commercial disputes, and compliance issues.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, briefing notes, and presentations on commercial and legal matters.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with clients, the UK Leadership Team, and colleagues across the Division/Group.
  • Implement and oversee policies and procedures, including risk management, to ensure the achievement of Business Plan objectives.
  • Provide commercial and legal advice to Location Managers, ensuring the development and maintenance of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Promote commercial awareness throughout the organization.
  • Support all commercial negotiations and disputes, safeguarding the organization against claims.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Proven experience in a business environment managing diverse caseloads.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to prioritize a demanding workload and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in preparing high-quality reports and documentation.
  • Capacity to provide precise advice and support to colleagues.
  • Proficiency in drafting legally compliant business correspondence.
  • A collaborative team player with enthusiasm and a proactive approach.

Desirable

  • Legal knowledge and experience.
  • Background in commercial contracts.
  • Basic project management skills with the ability to lead small to medium-sized projects.
  • Familiarity with public transport and/or the UK Rail Industry.
