Job Title: Commercial Waste Sales Officer

Join CRA GROUP LIMITED as a Commercial Waste Sales Officer and play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to increase commercial waste sales and customer retention in the borough of Thurrock.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and securing new commercial waste customers and cross-selling opportunities for other products and services provided by the Council.
  • Providing advice and guidance to business owners on their responsibilities regarding waste storage and disposal, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Working closely with the Contracts & Business Development Manager to achieve sales objectives, promote the commercial waste service, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Representing the Council in a professional manner when interacting with clients and delivering commercial waste services.
Key Responsibilities:

The Commercial Waste Sales Officer will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing sales strategies to increase commercial waste sales and customer retention.
  • Providing excellent customer service and ensuring that customers are aware of their duties of care regarding waste disposal.
  • Working closely with the Contracts & Business Development Manager to achieve sales objectives and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Representing the Council in a professional manner when interacting with clients and delivering commercial waste services.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of marketing and operational strategies to maximize customer base and competitiveness.
  • Ensuring that the service operates within the Council's regulatory framework, including financial and human resource standards.
  • Providing advice and guidance to customers and local businesses on relevant matters, including waste management and environmental protection.
  • Being responsible for pricing special collections and scheduling such work in accordance with agreed pricing structures and operational methods.
  • Developing relations with businesses within the allocated sales territory to identify and secure cross-selling opportunities for other products and services provided by the Council.
  • Being responsible for completion of service contracts, collecting payments for special collections and existing debts, and ensuring that such payments are managed in accordance with established financial controls.
  • Being fully aware of hazardous waste and means of disposal as regards to the Environmental Protection Act (EPA).
  • Liaising with Enforcement Officers to regularly audit the Commercial Waste portfolio to ensure that crews are only collecting from credited customers and specified volumes of waste.
  • Liaising with commercial waste admin and operations in the delivery and removal of containers when required.
  • Ensuring that all customers are aware of the duty of care documentation.
  • Assisting in the stock control of bins to Commercial Waste customers and domestic properties and providing information on overall stock.
  • Working with the business support team and with regards to sales, debt collection, monitoring, working with enforcement where appropriate, signing and amending contracts, special collections, and any trade waste infringements.
  • Supporting the Contracts & Business Development Manager with the monitoring and reporting of Commercial Waste infringements in respect of the EPA.
  • Liaising with operations managers and crews with regards to the Commercial Waste portfolio.
  • Ensuring service delivery standards are achieved, liaising with operations where required.
  • Fully investigating complaints and conducting 'follow through' actions to deal with causes of genuine complaints.
  • Any other duties, commensurate with the post and grade, which may be allocated from time to time.
  • Using and assisting others in the use of information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Undertaking training and constructively taking part in meetings, supervision, seminars, and other events designed to improve communication and assist with the effective development of the post and post holder.
  • Carrying out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Council's commitment to customer service excellence and ensuring compliance with the customer care standards.
  • Being committed to the Council's core values of public service, quality, equality, and empowerment and demonstrating this commitment in the way duties are carried out.
  • Ensuring that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with the Data Protection Act and other legislation.
  • Carrying out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Council's Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • At all times carrying out responsibilities/duties within the framework of the Council's Dignity for all Policy (Equal Opportunities Policy).

Requirements:
