Job Summary:

CRA GROUP LIMITED is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Commercial Waste Sales Officer to join our team. As a Commercial Waste Sales Officer, you will be responsible for obtaining new commercial waste customers and cross-selling products in the borough of Thurrock. You will also be responsible for customer retention and advising business owners on their responsibilities in relation to waste storage and disposal.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve realistic revenue objectives.
  • Provide advice and guidance to customers on waste management and recycling practices.
  • Work closely with the Contracts & Business Development Manager to contribute to the continuous improvement of the Commercial Waste Services.
  • Represent the Council in a professional manner when interacting with clients.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to add value to the services delivered by the Commercial Waste Service.
  • Assist in the development of marketing and operational strategies to maximize the customer base.
  • Ensure that the service operates within the Council's regulatory framework.
  • Develop a borough-wide Commercial Waste service that reflects the professional image of the service and the Council.
  • Provide advice and guidance on legislation affecting businesses and provide general advice and guidance to customers and local businesses.
  • Be responsible for pricing special collections and scheduling such work in accordance with agreed pricing structures and operational methods.
  • Develop relations with businesses within your allocated Sales Territory to identify and secure cross-sell opportunities.
  • Be responsible for completion of service contracts, collecting payments for special collections and existing debts.
  • Be fully aware of hazardous waste and means of disposal as regards to the Environmental Protection Act (EPA).
  • Liaise with Enforcement Officers to regularly audit the Commercial Waste portfolio.
  • Liaise with commercial waste admin and operations in the delivery and removal of containers when required.
  • Ensure that all customers are aware of the duty of care documentation.
  • Assist in the stock control of bins to Commercial Waste customers and domestic properties.
  • Work with the business support team and with regards to sales, debt collection, monitoring, working with enforcement where appropriate signing and amending contracts, special collections and any trade waste infringements.
  • Support the Contracts & Business Development Manager with the monitoring and reporting of Commercial Waste infringements in respect of the EPA.
  • Liaise with operations managers and crews with regards to the Commercial Waste portfolio.
  • Ensure service delivery standards are achieved liaising with operations where required.
  • Fully investigate complaints and conduct 'follow through' actions to deal with causes of genuine complaints.
  • Any other duties, commensurate with the post and grade which may be allocated from time to time.
  • Use and assist others in the use of information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner.
  • Undertake training and constructively take part in meetings, supervision, seminars and other events designed to improve communication and assist with the effective development of the post and post holder.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the council's commitment to customer service excellence and ensure compliance with the customer care standards.
  • Be committed to the Council's core values of public service, quality, equality and empowerment and to demonstrate this commitment in the way duties are carried out.
  • Ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with the Data Protection Act and other legislation.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Council's Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • At all times to carry out responsibilities/duties within the framework of the Council's Dignity for all Policy (Equal Opportunities Policy).
Requirements:
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car.
