Job Title: Education Mental Health Practitioner Trainee

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Education Mental Health Practitioner Trainee. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people, providing early interventions and support to improve their mental health and wellbeing.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to gain experience in providing one-to-one brief evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health problems. They will also be trained in providing support to educational settings with Whole School Approaches, designed to improve emotional well-being and mental health more broadly in the school.

This is a 12-month training programme, which includes academic and supervised practice learning across mental health services and educational settings. The training will be provided through a combination of taught days, independent self-guided study days, and experience gained in education wellbeing and mainstream mental health services.

The successful candidate will be required to travel to Edgehill University approximately 2 days a week to successfully complete the EMHP IAPT course. They will also be required to demonstrate a proven commitment to continuous professional development and be able to study at degree level or above.

Person Specification
  • Proven record of previous academic attainment.
  • Knowledge of children and young people gained through academic study in child development, child wellbeing or mental health.
  • Knowledge of the functional operation of specialist CAMHS teams.
  • Working knowledge of the whole school approach to mental health.
  • Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.
