GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cover Supervisor to join a supportive Secondary School in our South Yorkshire branch. As a vital member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure classroom environment, identifying and addressing any hazards or risks, and responding appropriately in emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the classroom environment in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a smooth and productive learning experience for students.
- Ensure that students are engaged in learning activities, maintain discipline, and uphold the school's behavior policies, promoting a positive and respectful classroom culture.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and materials from the absent teacher, facilitating student engagement through guided activities, answering questions, and providing assistance as required, maintaining a conducive learning environment.
- Oversee student work during the lesson, ensuring that students stay on task and complete assigned activities, providing support and encouragement as needed.
- Provide support and encouragement to students who require assistance, while also monitoring behavior and managing any disruptions, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students by adhering to health and safety procedures and protocols, maintaining a secure and respectful classroom environment.
Requirements:
- Experience in a similar role with secondary school children or within an educational setting is preferred but not required, with a strong understanding of educational principles and practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, promoting effective collaboration and teamwork.
- Having relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or a related field is a plus, with a strong commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Currently residing in the UK, with a valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- Passion for education and student support, with a strong commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
