Detailed Job Description

The Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical and Mechanical Services Manager to join their team. As a key member of the engineering department, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault finding, and repair of complex engineering services and equipment in NHS premises.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Participating in the development and implementation of maintenance strategies to ensure the efficient operation of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Leading a team of engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality maintenance and repair services.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to colleagues to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure the effective management of engineering services and equipment.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external contractors and suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A HNC in Building Services or equivalent, plus specialist training and experience to graduate level.
  • Authorised/Responsible and/or Competent Person status in one or more of the following specialisms: LV Electrical Systems, HV Electrical Systems, Heating and Ventilation Systems, Decontamination Safe Water Systems, Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS), and Confined Spaces.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in NHS premises.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guidance.
  • In-depth knowledge of Health Technical Memorandum's (HTM's).
  • Significant experience working in a complex engineering/building environment.

Technical Skills Competencies

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, test & repair work on a wide range of complex engineering services & equipment.
  • Ability to work unassisted in varying, often technical environments while complying with health and safety/environmental regulations and standards.

Other Requirements

The ideal candidate will be able to:

  • Participate in outside of normal hours on-call rota.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Speak English as necessary to undertake the role.
