Job Title: Classroom Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in the classroom to ensure a child-centred learning experience
  • Support children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment
  • Use information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook, and/or C2K schools IT systems
  • Work flexibly and creatively to meet the needs of children with special educational needs
  • Develop effective interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers, children, and parents
Requirements:
  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 childcare qualification as approved by the Education Authority
  • Have a minimum of six months' experience of working with children in a formal learning environment
  • Evidence of a working knowledge of information technology systems
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to meet the needs of children with special educational needs
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable Criteria:
  • Have a minimum of one year's experience of working with children with special educational needs in a school setting
  • Hold a qualification in special educational needs
Selection Process:

The selection process will involve a shortlisting stage, followed by an interview. The interview will assess your ability to meet the essential and desirable criteria, as well as your values and approach to work.
