About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Editor to join our team at Elsevier, a global leader in information and analytics. As a Senior Editor, you will play a key role in overseeing the creation and publication of high-quality content for our online journal, The Lancet Obstetrics, Gynaecology, & Women's Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Content Development: Manage the peer review process for high-quality research papers, commission authors, and ensure the successful production of engaging articles.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with global obstetrics, gynaecology, & women's health communities to attract high-quality research for the journal.
  • Conference Representation: Attend conferences and events to represent the journal, stay up-to-date with current developments, and identify potential topics of interest.
  • Editorial Writing: Write editorials and other content for the journal as required.
  • Initiative Development: Help develop new initiatives for the future development of the journal.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: An MD or PhD with postdoctoral experience in a relevant subject, or a postgraduate higher degree in a relevant discipline plus substantial editorial experience at a senior level on a peer-reviewed STM journal.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Thorough knowledge of biological and medical sciences, broader social issues pertaining to obstetrics, gynaecology, & women's health, and excellent organisational skills.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to engage and build relationships with external stakeholders, including medical and research professionals, internal teams, and members of the media.
  • Language and IT Skills: Excellent command of the English language and proficiency with IT systems, including MS Office.
