Position Title: Individual Support Assistant for a Child with Autism

Role Overview:
We are in search of a devoted and empathetic Individual Support Assistant to join our team and provide dedicated support to a child with autism. This role is essential in helping the child reach their full potential both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver personalized assistance to the child with autism within a classroom environment.
  • Assist in the execution and adherence to individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the child's unique requirements.
  • Facilitate the development of social skills, independence, and self-confidence in the child.
  • Collaborate closely with the classroom teacher, special education personnel, and other professionals to ensure the child's needs are effectively met.
  • Monitor and document the child's progress, providing regular updates to the teacher and family.
  • Modify teaching materials and strategies to suit the child's learning preferences and requirements.
  • Support the child during transitions and unstructured periods to maintain a consistent and secure environment.

Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs (SEN).
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with special needs.
  • Understanding of autism spectrum disorder and effective strategies for supporting children with autism in an educational setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
