About the Role
The Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge is seeking a skilled Procurement Assistant to join its Finance Team. As part of a refreshed 'core' structure for purchasing in the department, this role will play a crucial part in ensuring that all purchasing activities adhere to best practice and guidelines issued by the University Procurement Service.
Key Responsibilities
- Process purchasing transactions on CUFS, the University's finance system, as part of a team of buyers.
- Handle incoming queries on purchasing and related matters, providing accurate and timely responses.
- Prepare activity and spend reports using tools including CUFS and COGNOS, identifying opportunities to improve workflow.
- Provide guidance and assistance to stakeholders sourcing goods and services in line with best practice and University regulations, maintaining documentation covering local procedures.
Requirements
- Experience of working in a busy purchasing or finance function within a large organisation.
- Confidence and experience in working on projects with multiple stakeholder groups.
- High numeracy skills and good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal with financial or procurement controls and prioritize your own workload.
