About the Role

The Principal Safety Consultant will be responsible for performing technical safety and risk studies, as well as writing up results and reports. This role requires the ability to operate independently, with some input and support from the Study Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform technical safety and risk assessments and analysis based on regulatory requirements, client standards, and drivers
  • Efficiently communicate solutions through calculations, technical reports, and presentations
  • Interface directly with clients, undertake marketing and business development activities, represent the company within industry working groups, and work in a single-discipline supervisory capacity
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled individual with a proven track record in technical safety, risk, and loss prevention. The ideal candidate will have a relevant engineering degree and experience in managing formal safety workshops, including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA.

  • Proven experience in technical safety, risk, and loss prevention
  • Relevant engineering degree
  • Experience in managing formal safety workshops, including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL/LOPA
  • Experience in executing risk studies, including QRA, FERA, and EERA, and risk-based design, including ALARP demonstration
  • Experience in loss prevention design, including active and passive fire protection, blast protection, F&G systems, hazardous area classification, and development of design drawings
  • Understanding of UK regulatory framework and safety case/COMAH development
  • Ability to lead junior engineers
Desirable Skills
  • Some understanding of functional safety
  • Experience with PHAST, Flaresim, BowtieXP, Pipenet
  • Experience in CCUS, hydrogen, wind
