Position: Aerospace Quality Assurance Specialist
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Compensation: $44.40 per hour on W2
Work Schedule: MTh (5 AM - 3:30 PM)

  • Overtime Eligible. Identify quality issues and propose corrective actions. Calibrate, validate, or maintain inspection equipment. Draft or update standard operating procedures for quality control. Assess analytical methods and procedures for potential enhancements. Conduct visual inspections of finished products. Receive and evaluate raw materials. Analyze test results, compare them to established specifications and control limits, and make recommendations regarding data suitability for release. Supervise testing processes to ensure compliance with established specifications and standard testing protocols. Provide necessary quality control data for regulatory submissions. Complete documentation to support testing procedures, including data capture forms and equipment logbooks.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in dimensional inspection of aerospace components.
  • Exceptional blueprint reading abilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of precision hand tools, gauges, optical comparators, and surface plate work.
  • Experience inspecting high-value components with tight tolerances.
  • Familiarity with personal computer applications.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for the mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space.
  • At least 5 years of experience inspecting aerospace components using precision hand tools, articulating Romer ARM, and/or CMMs.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Understanding of departmental KPIs and metrics for performance improvement.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-2018 standards.
  • Strong customer-focused communication skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Clear understanding of production versus development environments.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive, professional relationships while contributing to an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily part inspections utilizing advanced Hexagon Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and PCDMIS software for programming and FAI data collection.
  • In-depth knowledge of GD&T.
  • Perform manual inspections and utilize nonconformance processes effectively.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with Polyworks and Spatial Analyzer, as well as PC DMIS for NC on-machine inspection.
  • Knowledge of Faro and Verisurf software.
  • Basic machining knowledge.
  • Experience with heavy lifting equipment operation around critical hardware.
  • Understanding of outside processing methods such as heat treating, plating, coating, EDM, and grinding.
