Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Lead Nurse to manage the Anticoagulation service on behalf of the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of experienced anticoagulant nurse specialists, supported by a clerical team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage caseload, work allocation, and clinical supervision.
  • Line manage the team and coordinate service delivery.
  • Train and ensure the competence of the team.
  • Ensure appropriate HR processes are followed with relation to sickness management and performance.
  • Be proactive in the maintenance of the quality of the department, involved in benchmarking, audit, and clinical governance.
  • Monitor performance indicators and turnaround times.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the Dawn Anticoagulation dosing system.
  • Demonstrate competence in the review of medical history and clinical information.
  • Demonstrate strong effective decision making in relation to clinical management of patients on anticoagulants.
  • Act as a role model and be actively involved in staff development/support in relation to any change management during periods of service reconfiguration.

The service supports blended working, involving both shifts in the office and some working from home. The team is warm and friendly and highly committed to the care of their patients.
