Job Title: Locum Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

This is a 12-month locum post for maternity cover, providing a comprehensive paediatric respiratory service for children in the Thames Valley and Northamptonshire. The postholder will join a multidisciplinary team, including 3 specialist paediatric respiratory consultants, 5 specialist nurses, 2 physiotherapists, 2 dieticians, a psychologist, a respiratory physiologist, and other support staff.

Main Duties
  • Provide a comprehensive paediatric respiratory service, including regional cystic fibrosis centre, respiratory sleep service, non-invasive respiratory support service, long-term ventilation via tracheostomy, and care of children with tracheostomies.
  • Manage complex clinical problems and make decisions at consultant level.
  • Undertake clinic work, inpatient work, and take an equal share in a 1 in 3 on-call service for paediatric respiratory medicine.
  • Participate in clinical research and contribute to teaching and training.

Person Specification
  • Essential qualifications: Full GMC with licence to practice, MBBCh or equivalent, MRCPCH or equivalent, CCT in paediatrics and paediatric respiratory medicine or equivalent.
  • Desirable qualifications: Higher Medical Degree, PhD or MD, or evidence of working towards a higher academic degree.
