We are currently on the lookout for an Area Relief Supervisor to become part of our exceptional Tarmac Readymix RMX team, operating from our Tarmac Silvertown RMX site. This role involves overseeing our London RMX plants, which are conveniently located and accessible via major road networks.

Key ResponsibilitiesThe Area Relief Supervisor will oversee and be responsible for the RMX operations across our facilities. As the Senior Supervisor, you will prioritize safety and operational excellence, focusing on cost management, team leadership, customer satisfaction, and performance enhancement. Ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations will also be a crucial part of your role.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities of the Area Relief Supervisor include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and actively supervising the RMX operational teams, including conducting toolbox talks
- Managing all facets of daily production, including operational costs and inventory control
- Ensuring efficient concrete production while maintaining quality standards
- Driving operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Coaching and managing the performance of all direct reports
- Resolving queries in a timely manner
- Prioritizing safety for yourself and your colleagues
- Maintaining high standards of site cleanliness
- Batching concrete to fulfill customer requirements while adhering to internal quality standards
- Managing the budget for the plants under your supervision, including both fixed and variable costs
Key Stakeholders you will collaborate with in this role include:
- Production Managers
- Health & Safety Team
- Procurement and Support Teams
- National Logistics Team
- Area Operations Teams
- Area Commercial Teams
- Area HR Manager
- Industry Bodies and Customers
A valid FULL UK manual driving license with no more than 6 penalty points is required.
We welcome applications from candidates with strong supervisory or management experience in a similar heavy industry, as product training will be provided to the successful candidate.
This role requires flexibility to meet production demands, with opportunities for shift work and overtime.
The Ideal CandidateTo excel in the position of Area Relief Supervisor, the ideal candidate will possess the following experience and knowledge:
Essential Experience
- Supervisory experience in Readymix RMX plant operations
- Previous exposure to an Asphalt or Aggregates environment is advantageous
- Understanding of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work
- Familiarity with production processes
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental policies
Desirable Qualifications
- IOSH Managing Safely certification
- NVQ in fixed and mobile plant operations
Skills
- Ability to identify and implement site and process improvements
- Effective communication skills to enhance customer service and sales
- Capability to multitask and manage change efficiently
