Senior Platform Operations Engineer

The Senior Platform Operations Engineer will be integral to our International DevOps Team, concentrating on the development and maintenance of the foundational infrastructure for our International GolfNow Platform. Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the seamless operation of the International GolfNow platforms during peak traffic periods.
  • Leveraging Amazon Web Services to create secure and highly available services.
  • Implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Working closely with the NBC SportsNext Cyber Security Team to bolster platform security.
  • Engaging in a GitHub Pull Request-based development pipeline to deliver customer value.
  • Utilizing monitoring solutions such as Datadog and Splunk.
  • Advocating for high-quality code and engineering practices to support Continuous Delivery.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation for operational support.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, specifically in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering capacity.
  • Hands-on expertise with AWS services and contemporary infrastructure methodologies.
  • Ability to develop maintainable, scalable, and secure infrastructure automation.
  • A strong collaborator with exceptional communication abilities.

AWS Experience

  • Practical experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, and RDS.
  • Familiarity with AWS Serverless technologies is advantageous.

Kubernetes

  • Experience in deploying services on Kubernetes.
  • Transitioning from VM-based applications to Kubernetes environments.

CI/CD

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as TravisCI or Jenkins.

Automation

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, Python, or Go.

Infrastructure as Code

  • Expertise in Terraform.
  • Developing reusable and standardized Terraform modules.

Web Services / Runtimes

  • Experience managing high-traffic web properties.
  • Configuring web servers and securing services for public accessibility.
  • Familiarity with Java and PHP is beneficial.
