About the Role

CHM-1, the national charity for children in care and young care leavers, is seeking three new Trustees to join their diverse and dynamic Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the charity and work with other Trustees and the staff team to help them deliver their mission of helping children in care and young care leavers to unleash their potential and to make the care system the best it can be.

The charity is committed to putting young people at the heart of everything they do, helping them to be powerful agents of positive change in their own lives, in the care system, and in society. They believe that young people who've experienced care should have the same chances as everyone else to live happy, fulfilled lives.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the charity's strategy, governance, and operations. As a Trustee, you will be expected to contribute to the development of the charity's five-year strategy, provide guidance on key issues, and support the Chief Executive in leading the organization.

The charity is committed to diversity and inclusion, and they actively seek to bring diversity of perspectives and experience to the Board. They welcome applications from younger people, those with disabilities, those from racially-marginalized backgrounds, and LGBTQ+ communities. Gender balance is also important to them, so they particularly encourage women to apply.

The selection process will involve a two-stage interview process, with the first stage consisting of an online interview with young people and the second stage consisting of an in-person interview with the Board of Trustees and the Chief Executive.
