Job Overview

In this pivotal position, you will be an essential member of a high-achieving team dedicated to ensuring the secure operation of the firm's primary cloud platforms. Make a significant contribution as you influence the evolution of cloud security at one of the world's foremost financial institutions.

As a Senior Cloud Security Engineer at J.P. Morgan Chase within the Cybersecurity & Technology Controls division, you will play a vital role in delivering public cloud solutions that meet established functional and user requirements while simultaneously preventing misuse, circumvention, and malicious activities. As a key technical contributor, you will be tasked with implementing critical technology solutions utilizing tamper-proof, audit-compliant methods across various technical domains within multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the execution and enhancement of a comprehensive information risk and control strategy aimed at safeguarding the information assets of the public cloud.
  • Oversee security assessments of cloud infrastructure platforms and conduct threat modeling, including code evaluations.
  • Provide risk-based evaluations of secure technology controls related to cloud services, platforms, and architectural components.
  • Assist business technology teams in comprehending firm control requirements and implementations across a wide array of cloud architectures.
  • Contribute to documentation and agile methodologies in support of security initiatives.
  • Collaborate with broader Cybersecurity teams to ensure platform integration with security operations, threat intelligence, identity access management, and network security.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Formal training or certification in security engineering principles.
  • Strong interest in understanding and securing public cloud technologies.
  • Willingness to collaborate within a team, comfortable in both virtual and physical work environments.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and possess a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with internal management, peer groups, regulators, and senior stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience in developing, engineering, or architecting within a public cloud environment.
  • Leadership experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with agile practices such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD).
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and an understanding of DevOps or CI/CD methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
  • Knowledge of Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) products.
  • Certifications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud are advantageous.
