Job Title: Head of Sustainability
Job Summary:
Scale Careers is seeking a seasoned Sustainability Director to lead our team in driving innovative sustainability approaches and strategies across various large-scale projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and guiding a regional team, overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to integrate sustainable design goals and maximize energy efficiency throughout project lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Manage and guide a regional team within the global team, focusing on sustainable design across various large-scale projects.
- Project Oversight: Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, workflows, and support the design teams on sustainability-related topics.
- Sustainability Frameworks: Design and assess sustainability frameworks, conduct environmental and energy analyses, develop health and well-being strategies, and manage third-party certifications and GHG emission analysis.
- Climate Impact Mitigation: Work on projects aimed at developing strategies for climate impact mitigation and resilience, coordinating sustainability assessments and benchmarking building projects to ensure they meet high sustainability standards.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate sustainable design goals and maximize energy efficiency throughout project lifecycles.
Requirements:
- Education: Holding a relevant degree in architecture with a focus on environmental design, building services/engineering, or a related discipline.
- Accreditation: Accredited within energy assessment or experience using energy modelling software such as SAP, SBEM, IES and a M.Sc. would be highly desirable.
- Experience: Experience within embodied carbon and lifecycle assessments, strong understanding of BREEAM and LEED, and experience in OneClick LCA, Energy Strategies, Daylight & Sunlight consultancy, and sustainability rating systems is ideal.
- Skills: Desire to realise net zero carbon targets across the studio and a passion for analysing data research, and assisting design solutions are key qualities. Open communication skills with the ability to bring people together through training and knowledge sharing, and experience with project budgeting, cost tracking, and interdisciplinary team management.
