Reports to: Security Supervisor/Assistant Security Manager/Security Manager

Job Overview

The Security Officer is entrusted with the comprehensive management of safety protocols within the hotel, adhering to established company guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the hotel in mitigating losses through the identification and apprehension of individuals suspected of unlawful activities, in accordance with legal standards and hotel policies.
  • Oversee the Hotel Fire Plan, taking necessary actions during fire alarm activations.
  • Coordinate with VIP security teams as necessary.
  • Assist the Duty Manager with daily operational matters as needed.
  • Conduct searches of bags and individuals in compliance with hotel procedures and legal requirements.
  • Perform cash, safe, and lock inspections as required, ensuring appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
  • Conduct regular property inspections and audits to maintain compliance with security and health & safety standards.
  • Ensure all CCTV systems are functional and operational, contacting engineers for repairs when necessary.
  • Provide CCTV footage only to authorized personnel.
  • Advise the Health and Safety and Security Manager on the need for additional surveillance measures within the hotel.
  • Assist the Housekeeping department in managing lost property.
  • Engage in Duty Management as required.

Patrols

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for patrolling various areas of the property, ensuring that all entrances and exits are secure and that guests feel safe, particularly during peak times.

Surveillance

You may be stationed in a control room monitoring activities through surveillance cameras.

Health & Safety

Investigate all incidents and hazards within the hotel, reporting on suitable remedial or preventative measures. Conduct risk assessments in line with current health & safety legislation.

Assist the hotel in adhering to all relevant health & safety regulations, including The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Administrative Duties

Safeguard guest privacy by ensuring information is only shared with authorized parties, in compliance with the Data Protection Act. Maintain accurate records and prepare timely reports as required.

Working Relationships

Foster positive relationships with local hotels, independent security organizations, and government enforcement agencies. Due to the nature of the role, the Security Officer should refrain from forming personal relationships with other employees of the company.

The Security Officer may occasionally be required to work at or visit other properties within the group.
