Job Overview
The Security Officer is accountable for overseeing the safety and security protocols within the hotel, adhering to established company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities:
- Support the hotel in mitigating loss by apprehending individuals suspected of unlawful activities, in accordance with legal standards and hotel policies. This includes conducting investigations and collaborating with relevant authorities, providing feedback to the Health and Safety and Security Manager on the best course of action.
- Manage the Hotel Fire Plan, taking necessary actions if the fire alarm is triggered.
- Coordinate with VIP security personnel as necessary.
- Assist the Duty Manager with daily operational matters as needed.
- Conduct bag and personal searches in compliance with hotel procedures and legal requirements.
- Perform float, safe, and lock inspections as required, ensuring appropriate corrective measures are taken.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the premises to ensure compliance with security and health & safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain all C.C.T.V. systems, ensuring they are operational and alerting engineers when necessary.
- Provide C.C.T.V. footage only to authorized personnel.
- Advise the Health and Safety and Security Manager on additional surveillance needs within the hotel.
- Assist the Housekeeping department in managing lost property.
Patrols
As a Security Officer, you will be required to patrol various areas of the property, ensuring that all doors and stairwells are secure and that there are no potential hazards. You will be present in the lobby during peak times to enhance guests' sense of security and will patrol outdoor areas as well as hallways and recreational spaces.
Surveillance
Your role may involve monitoring activities through C.C.T.V. cameras from a designated office.
Health & Safety
Investigate all incidents and hazards occurring within the hotel, reporting on appropriate remedial or preventative actions. Conduct risk assessments in line with current health & safety legislation and assist the hotel in adhering to all relevant laws.
Administrative Duties
Ensure guest privacy by safeguarding information as per the Data Protection Act. Maintain accurate records and prepare timely reports as required.
Working Relationships
Maintain strong working relationships with local hotels, independent security organizations, and government enforcement agencies. Due to the nature of the position, the Security Officer is expected to refrain from forming personal relationships with other employees within the company.
The Security Officer may be required to work at or visit other properties within the group as needed.
