Senior Financial Operations Manager – Fully Qualified

The Senior Financial Operations Manager serves as a key partner to budget holders regarding their operational expenditures, demonstrating a strong capability to communicate and clarify financial concepts to colleagues across various levels of the organization. This position is ideal for an individual looking to advance from a Management Accounting or Financial Analyst background.

This role encompasses the oversight of budgeting, accounting, and efficient management of operational expenses and non-operational capital expenditures.

Additionally, the position includes specialized financial responsibilities such as payroll management and headcount analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all budgeting, reforecasting, and strategic planning processes for operational expenditures and non-operational capital investments. This involves collaboration with senior leadership and their teams to align on activities and costs.
  • Conduct headcount reporting and analysis.
  • Ensure timely and precise month-end closing and reporting for operational expenses and IT capital expenditures in accordance with established timelines.
  • Provide insightful and accurate reporting and review of all operational expenses and non-operational capital expenditures with budget holders to maintain effective cost control.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations for any balance sheet accounts managed by this role.
  • Review and approve payroll processes; coordinate with external payroll service providers.
  • Assist the HR team with calculations for Short-Term and Long-Term Incentive Plans; present these calculations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with external professional services to provide necessary information for the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement submission.
  • Manage and calculate provisions for significant legal disputes.
  • Provide additional support for employee tax compliance, including coordination with external professional services.
  • Ensure optimal configuration of financial systems regarding workflow and coding of operational expenditures and non-operational capital investments.

Qualifications Required:

  • Fully Qualified (ACCA|ACA|CIMA)
  • 2-4 years of post-qualification experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • Experience in business partnering at a senior level
  • Knowledge of operational expenditures
  • Strong financial and management accounting expertise
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Understanding of operational finance processes and controls

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the property or telecommunications sectors
  • Familiarity with Agresso ERP software
  • Relevant academic background (e.g., business, finance, economics)
