We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at King's College Hospital. As a key member of our Department of Anaesthesia, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to our patients.
Main Responsibilities- Provide Anaesthetic Services: You will be responsible for delivering anaesthesia for general, major, and high-risk surgeries, as well as trauma and cepod surgeries.
- Supervise Junior Staff: You will provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff, working closely with other consultant colleagues to ensure the proper functioning of the department.
- Teaching and Education: You will be responsible for carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, contributing to CPD and clinical governance initiatives.
- Research and Development: You will contribute to departmental research interests, working within the Trust's R&D framework.
- Audit and Quality Improvement: You will participate in audit programs, morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical governance initiatives, and learning from deaths.
- Leadership and Management: You will take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of the department's business plan, exercising professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty.
- Divisional Management: You will undertake divisional management duties as agreed with the Divisional/Departmental Manager/Clinical Director.
- Qualifications: FRCA or equivalent, Masters degree or equivalent, and additional qualifications/diplomas in specialist areas.
- Registration: Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training program in anaesthesia, eligible to apply for a Substantive Consultant post.
- Training and Experience: Wide experience in delivery of anaesthesia for general, major/high risk surgery and trauma/cepod surgery, award of CCT or equivalent, experience of delivering anaesthesia independently and supervising junior colleagues.
- Administration: Experience in day-to-day organisation of anaesthetic services in a busy Teaching Hospital, familiar with current structure of Health Service.
- Management and Leadership: Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams, management course and/or qualification.
- Audit: Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit and experience in audit projects.
- Research and Publications: Experience of clinical research and relevant research experience in anaesthesia, publication of relevant review articles or case reports.
- Teaching: Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation, teaching qualification.
