Job Title: Commercial Manager
Babcock International Group is seeking a skilled Commercial Manager to join our team at our Devonport Royal Dockyard site in Plymouth, Devon. As a Commercial Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting our Major Infrastructure Project (MIP) portfolio and providing commercial expertise to internal stakeholders.
The Role
As a Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for providing commercial support to our MIP portfolio operating from Devonport Royal Dockyard. This will involve working closely with internal stakeholders, including finance, project teams, and supply chain, to provide commercial expertise and governance. You will also be responsible for negotiating with clients and suppliers, managing change orders, and providing advice on NEC4 terms and conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial expertise and governance to internal stakeholders for tenders and contract reviews, processes, policies, and commercial risks.
- Develop and maintain positive customer relationships to represent the company in negotiations.
- Oversee the production of change orders to a Qualifying Defence Contract (QDC) and gather and assess robust Appropriate Attributable and Reasonable (AAR) evidence to support contract change.
- Act as an escalation point for high-risk commercial issues.
- Provide advice and drafting in relation to client and supplier NEC4 terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with all internal processes.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need significant commercial experience in managing large and complex construction contracts, bids, and change initiatives in a regulated environment. You will also need demonstrable evidence of developing effective customer relationships and negotiating independently within agreed delegations. Knowledge of NEC4 ECC and PSC terms is essential, as is the ability to effectively lead and develop a team.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
