About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bupa. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, providing exceptional service to our residents, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist our Chefs in preparing simple meals and ancillary items for service
  • Wash dishes by hand or load the dishwasher, storing clean items neatly and safely to minimize breakages
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors to ensure they are free from grease or spillage
  • Wash worktables, walls, kitchen equipment, and appliances, adhering to cleaning schedules
  • Operate kitchen equipment and transfer it safely between storage and work areas
  • Ensure the kitchen is kept tidy and left secure, rubbish is removed, and all supplies are put away in the correct place
  • Adhere to company Food Safety and Health and Safety policies at all times, maintaining all records outlined in the HACCP policy
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have an understanding of Health and Safety and knowledge of maintaining a clean, safe, and hygiene environment. An up-to-date CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent) and previous experience of working in a catering department or kitchen would be advantageous. Ideally, you have some knowledge of working in a care environment and stock control, along with an ability to prepare simple meals. Organized and adaptable, you have the ability to work well within a team and under your own initiative.
