Job Overview

The successful candidate will operate within the Pharmacy Procurement Team, overseeing the daily functions of the pharmacy purchasing office.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Pharmacy Procurement Supervisor encompass the accurate, efficient, and timely ordering of all essential medications and pharmaceuticals, as well as invoice reconciliation in line with the Trust's financial guidelines.

Job Duties

The key result areas include:

- **Pharmacy Procurement**: Under the guidance of the Senior Pharmacy Technician, ensure the seamless operation of the Purchasing Team, which includes coordinating and supervising activities.

- **Invoice Management**: Oversee pharmacy invoice reconciliation according to the Trust's financial protocols and public sector standards.

- **System Management**: Act as a super user for pharmacy robotics and relevant software systems.

- **Financial Oversight**: Manage off-contract credit claims to maximize financial rebates for out-of-stock contract items.

- **Reporting**: Provide regular updates to the Senior Pharmacy Technician regarding savings achieved from off-contract credits.

- **Order Placement**: Responsible for placing orders for a comprehensive range of medications and ensuring compliance with procurement agreements.

- **Stock Monitoring**: Regularly review stock levels and adjust purchasing patterns based on usage trends.

- **Supplier Liaison**: Proactively address out-of-stock situations and explore alternative suppliers as necessary.

- **Training and Development**: Assist in training pharmacy staff and contribute to the development of standard operating procedures.

- **Audit Participation**: Engage in internal audits and service delivery evaluations as required.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Proven experience in managing procurement processes and addressing drug shortages.
  • Significant experience in NHS hospital pharmacy settings.
  • Involvement in audits and development of standard operating procedures.
  • Experience in supervisory or management roles.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with EMIS stock control systems.
  • Knowledge of stores processes and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
