Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to lead our budgeting and financial operations team. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for preparing budgets, forecasting, and supporting the allocation of resources for our designated schools and professional service departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead on the preparation of budgets by factoring student numbers into financial forecasts and supporting an appropriate allocation of staff and non-staff resources.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce and present monthly management accounts for designated schools and professional service departments, ensuring that budget holders understand their financial outturn and forecasts.
  • Financial Analysis: Report on the financial performance of designated schools and professional service departments, including associated risks and opportunities.
  • Enterprise Income Management: Manage designated schools' enterprise income reporting and assist in their bids for research income, while identifying new income sources, opportunities to increase existing income lines, and efficiency savings.
  • Financial Operations Support: Support the Group Financial Controller in producing monthly management accounts for the university and its subsidiaries.
  • Financial Advisory: Advise on VAT and partial exemption VAT rules.
Requirements
  • Accounting Qualification: ACA (Essential)
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of three years' professional accounting-related work experience in a medium or large organization.
  • Higher Education Sector Knowledge: Higher education sector knowledge or exposure is desirable.
