Job Overview

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Food Service Operatives. In this role, you will be responsible for upholding cleanliness standards across various workspaces, utilizing approved cleaning methods.

Please be aware that all successful candidates are required to cover the cost of their own DBS certificate, if applicable. This fee will be deducted from your initial monthly salary.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be tasked with:

  • Receiving and inspecting food deliveries for quality, temperature, and accuracy according to supplier orders.
  • Storing food items in designated areas while adhering to departmental policies regarding Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Serving meals to staff and ensuring compliance with Food Temperature Regulations.
  • Operating the central dishwashing machine, including the cleaning, drying, and inspection of crockery and cutlery.
  • Preparing fruits, vegetables, and salads for service.
  • Assisting in the preparation and distribution of meals.
  • Serving food in the dining area and preparing sandwiches, hot snacks, and beverages as needed.
  • Cleaning and restocking vending machines.
  • Managing the cash register in the Staff Dining Room.

Job Duties

The Food Service Operative will be responsible for:

  • Preparing food items and maintaining cleanliness in the Catering Department.
  • Serving meals to patients, visitors, and staff in various dining settings.
  • Operating within the central dishwashing area.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate (to be obtained within six months of employment).
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 1 or 2 in a relevant field.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications).

Experience and Skills

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in cash handling.
