Quality Assurance Technician for F1 Models

Position OverviewQuality Control Responsibilities
Deliver a comprehensive quality inspection service to the Model Shop and Additive Manufacturing sectors, ensuring that any component quality challenges are promptly identified and resolved.
Conduct scanning and dimensional inspections of components, assemblies, and complete models, working independently while also responding to specific requests from leadership.
Provide metrology support during model assembly, utilizing advanced technology to ensure compliance with stringent tolerances.
Propose, explore, and assist in the development of innovative methods and systems aimed at enhancing quality and operational efficiency.
Document faults and non-conformities, offering guidance on effective resolutions.
When required, mentor staff in quality control tools and measurement processes.
Model Shop Engagement
Collaborate with the Model Shop, Designers, and Aerodynamics teams to refine our scale models and improve operational practices and tools for F1 car development.
Support daily model-making activities as directed by the Head of Model Shop, with an expected time allocation of approximately 80% for inspection and quality control, and 20% for model building and other tasks.
Develop tools and methodologies to ensure consistent 'right first time' production outcomes.
CAD Proficiency
Analyze CAD assemblies and interpret engineering drawings with precision.
Professional Standards
Ensure all tasks are executed to agreed standards within set deadlines.
Maintain professionalism in all tasks and proactively promote a positive image for the department and sponsors.
Exhibit strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit, complemented by a proactive and enthusiastic approach in our dynamic environment.

Candidate QualificationsExperience in automotive and engineering, preferably within the F1 sector.
A solid understanding of working within a technical team that upholds high standards and meets tight deadlines.
Ability to thoroughly scope tasks and maintain meticulous records.
Familiarity with Leica or similar inspection hardware and software, including automated inspection program generation.
Proficient with measurement arms and software for scanning and inspection, such as Polyworks or Geomagic.
Knowledge of pressure tap management and reporting.
Competent in IT applications within a Windows environment, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Understanding of mechanical assemblies and basic automation principles related to wind tunnel model technology.
Demonstrated initiative and innovative thinking.
Ability to suggest and implement enhancements to model construction and processes.
Proactive awareness of health and safety standards.
Willingness to assist across departments and work with minimal supervision.
Capability to thrive under pressure while meeting critical deadlines.
