Wood is currently seeking a highly skilled Training and Competence Advisor to join our Aberdeen team on a permanent basis. This role offers flexible hybrid working arrangements.

The Training and Competence Advisor will play a crucial role in supporting the management and delivery of Training and Competence services across the business, ensuring our workforce has the necessary skills and competencies to perform their jobs safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface with internal stakeholders, including Contract Teams, functions, and client stakeholders, on training, competence, and team activities/progress.
  • Collaborate with the company's training management service provider (TMS) to deliver and monitor mandatory technical and safety training courses and certification.
  • Responsible for the training of new starters as directed by the senior/lead.

Process Ownership:

  • Drive the progress of training compliance, renewal of expiring certification, and achievement of KPIs in conjunction with the training management service provider (TMS).
  • Ensure the workforce has the correct training and certification as mandated by statute, client, or internal standards to carry out their roles safely.
  • Support team leads in change initiatives.
  • Responsible for Matrix compliance management, monitoring, and reporting (including client-specific reports) and course deviations.
  • Responsible for onboarding and management of new starters' training compliance in accordance with Wood standards and procedures.
  • Accountable for Training Management Systems - training records data entry and matrix management.
  • Focal point for commercial, payroll, and account inquiries.
  • Support the implementation of revised training and competence frameworks.
  • Run weekly data checks on gaps, expirations, and deviations to ensure the training management service provider (TMS) adheres to Wood policy and procedures.

  • Manage and administer competence-related pay increments.

Subject Matter Expertise:

  • Provide business support and advice on training and competence matters.
  • Support in the development of training processes.
  • Ensure legislative compliance with awarding body standards.
  • Provide information and support to contract teams and the training management service provider (TMS).
  • Identify problems and propose solutions.

General:

  • Administer Vocational Qualifications and In-House Logbooks, including applications for accredited certification where applicable.
  • Coordinate in-house training requirements as directed by the business.
  • Provide administrative support to the Competence Assurance Team, including the electronic competence management system (CMS).
  • Participate in standalone projects as required.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure efficient response times to Skillspool and individual mailboxes, iCIMS, and Everything People queries.
  • Take proactive ownership of data stored in various systems within the business area.
