Position Overview
The primary objective of this role is to investigate and develop avenues for the application of virtual reality (VR) technologies within the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) framework.
We seek an enthusiastic and skilled professional with a proven history in utilizing virtual reality in clinical environments, coupled with a strong drive for innovation.
This position is integral to advancing our strategic initiatives, particularly in enhancing bystander CPR and defibrillation rates through the innovative use of VR technologies in cardiac arrest scenarios.
Given that virtual reality is seldom employed during the critical early stages of severe medical conditions, we believe this fellowship will significantly influence our organization's direction in this technological domain, collaborating closely with our esteemed clinical leaders.
The role will involve a partnership with our industry collaborators, Medical Realities, providing the postholder with the chance to engage with experts in the fields of virtual reality and the metaverse.
The responsibilities associated with this position will evolve from initial exploration to the formulation of a comprehensive strategy, followed by the execution of key initiatives. EHAAT is dedicated to assisting the postholder in securing additional funding for the project through academic channels, as well as leveraging the expertise of our charity team to pursue specific grants.
Key Responsibilities
- Focus on our clinical community initiatives, innovating methods for widespread CPR and defibrillation training.
- Employ a systematic academic approach to your clinically relevant projects.
- Collaborate with our charity team to optimize the deployment of VR-related technologies.
- Enhance opportunities for EHAAT to partner with universities recognized for their expertise in this academic field.
- Investigate the global resuscitation community, identifying exemplary models and critically assessing their effectiveness to target appropriate opportunities.
- Participate in regular meetings with clinical and charity teams to integrate your work into the daily operations of the service.
- Once your proposed strategy is approved, advance to the implementation phase of the agreed plan.
- Alongside our research and scholarship lead, provide scholarly documentation of your activities that will have a broad impact, enriching the wider medical community.
- Deliver presentations at national and international conferences, symposia, and other events, showcasing your work on behalf of EHAAT.
- Contribute to our educational initiatives, collaborating closely with our education lead.
- As this role aims to uncover novel and innovative opportunities, additional objectives will be established throughout the duration of the position.
