About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced clinician or scientist to join our team as a Clinical Neuropathology Research Fellow. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our Centre for Excellence's mission to improve patient outcomes and experience in the hyperacute phase of brain injury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our Centre for Excellence team to develop and implement a research strategy focused on traumatic brain injury.
  • Conduct retrospective and prospective studies to investigate the prehospital phase of brain injury, including data collection and analysis.
  • Work with our Academic Lead for Head Injury and Data Analyst to ensure the appropriateness of data collection and analysis.
  • Lead the convening of academic meetings themed for Traumatic Brain Injury.
  • Collaborate with our Patient and Family Liaison Team and Patient and Public Involvement groups on all relevant aspects of the project.
  • Work with relevant ethics committees for approvals at all stages.
  • Support our research and scholarship lead by attending related meetings and events.
  • Provide evidence of completed work with regular reports and presentations as set out in the strategic project plan.
  • Ensure that collaborations and partnerships are built and developed to support the project's success.
  • Ensure that patient care and safeguarding of confidential information are always a primary consideration.
  • Deliver presentations at conferences, symposia, and events to a variety of audiences.
  • Maintain professional registrations as required for the role.
  • Demonstrate and be an ambassador for the EHAAT values.
Person Specification

Essential

  • Relevant first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Authorship of an academic thesis, dissertation, or similar.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of neuroscience relevant to this role.
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage scientific data independently.
  • Demonstrate an ability to critically appraise scientific data.
  • A working understanding of the principles of the management of traumatic brain injury.

Desirable

  • Relevant last-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Wet lab experience.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Body Registration appropriate to background.
  • Undergraduate degree such as BSc, MBBS or equivalent.
  • Post Graduate Degree such as MSc or postgraduate Diploma (FRCS, MRCP, or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Higher Degree (PhD, MD) in a related subject.
