About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced clinician or scientist to join our team as a Clinical Neuropathology Fellow. The successful candidate will have a background in neurosurgery, neuropathology, or neuroscience and will be responsible for conducting research in the field of hyperacute brain injury.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside our Centre for Excellence team to develop and implement a research strategy for the investigation of prehospital phase in a cohort of suspected and proven TBI patients.
  • Collaborate with our Academic Lead for Head Injury and Data analyst to ensure the appropriateness of data collection relevant to the project.
  • Lead the convening of academic meetings themed for Traumatic Brain Injury.
  • Work with the relevant ethics committees for approvals at all stages.
  • Support our research and scholarship lead by attending related meetings and events.
  • Provide evidence of completed work with regular reports and presentations as set out in the strategic project plan.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Relevant first author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Authorship of an academic thesis, dissertation, or similar.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of neuroscience relevant to this role.
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage scientific data independently.
  • Demonstrate a track record in the use of statistical methods and software packages.

Desirable

  • Relevant last author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Wet lab experience.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional Body Registration appropriate to background.
  • Undergraduate degree such as BSc, MBBS, or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate Degree such as MSc or postgraduate Diploma (FRCS, MRCP, or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Higher Degree (PhD, MD) in a related subject.
