Radiography Department Leader

We are seeking an experienced radiographer to lead and deliver the General X-ray department service at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant, dynamic, and diverse team in a supportive and innovative department.
The successful candidate will require excellent clinical, management, and technical experience. They will lead a team of committed radiographers, leading by example with exceptional imaging, communication, and interpersonal skills.
The responsibilities of this role will involve the optimisation and procurement of appropriate equipment, training and development of new and rotational staff, and a commitment to advancing quality, service, and patient care across all areas.
Main Duties of the Job- Take full responsibility for the management and operational issues of the General/Fluoroscopy/Dental X-ray, including cone beam CT and DEXA service.
- Take the lead in promoting and delivering a highly tailored patient-focused service, ensuring high standards of patient care and an imaging service that is responsive to patient needs.
- Take responsibility for regular monitoring and management of relevant waiting lists and proactively work towards reducing waits in a consistent manner, ensuring compliance with government guidelines.
- Provide professional line management of static and rotational radiographic staff, as well as administrative staff, and conduct Personal Development Reviews to ensure staff are fulfilling their work requirements.
- Undertake clinical imaging duties.
- Manage the unit on a daily basis, including supervision of staff, allocation of shift duties, prioritisation and coordination of emergency requests, and organisation of workload to ensure efficiency and timely completion of scheduled appointments.

- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent
- HDCR, MSc in Diagnostic Radiography or significant experience acquired in Diagnostic Radiography to master's level or equivalent
- HCPC Radiographer Registration
- Leadership Training/Qualification
- Substantial and demonstrable experience in Diagnostic Imaging
- Demonstratable experience in Paediatric Radiography
- Knowledge and awareness of clinical governance, quality assurance, UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), IRR (17), and IR(ME)R 2017
- Demonstratable experience in leadership
- Experience of teaching and supervising junior diagnostic imaging professionals
- Understanding the needs of patients, carers, and families
- Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives
- Understanding of diversity and inclusion challenges in the workplace
- Working knowledge of PACS and Electronic Records System (EPIC) system
- Experience in Dental Cone Beam CT
- Ability to work in a time-critical and pressurised environment
