Data Governance Project Lead

nLeague is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Governance Project Manager to lead the establishment, implementation, and ongoing management of a comprehensive data governance program for our client in the education sector.

As the Data Governance Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that data is collected, stored, shared, and reported in a manner that aligns with organizational needs and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with stakeholders across all levels to identify data challenges, develop solutions, and implement best practices for data governance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Data Governance Committee, guiding its activities and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, identify data challenges, and develop solutions.
  • Oversee the creation, implementation, and enforcement of agency-wide data governance policies and processes, including data access, use, security, metadata management, and privacy.
  • Develop and maintain a critical data issues log, tracking identified problems and assigning accountability for resolution.
  • Collaborate with program areas and technology teams to ensure data quality and compliance with established governance frameworks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data governance-related inquiries and support requests.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, data science, research, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with data governance policies and reporting within an educational or government agency.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, including the ability to mediate diverse perspectives and reach consensus.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience chairing effective committees.
  • Training or mentoring experience.
