Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Cafe Manager to join our team. As a key member of our front of house management team, you will be responsible for leading our cafe operations, training and developing our staff, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Training and Development
- Assist in leading training and onboarding of all front of house staff, including register, expo, runner, baristas, and other roles.
- Work with the General Manager and Cafe Manager to develop and implement training schedules and programs.
- Train staff on all aspects of food, beverage, service, operations, guest management, hospitality, and company culture.
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date training documents and materials.
- Beverage Program
- Train new baristas and ensure quality and consistency of all beverage preparation and ingredients.
- Source and select beverages that align with our company cuisine and culture.
- Manage ordering, inventory, and vendor relationships for all beverages.
- Create reference materials for our beverage program, including recipes and menu items.
- Front of House Management
- Manage daily service operations and supervise staff, solving problems and assisting as needed.
- Assume shared responsibilities of the front of house management team, including opening and closing procedures, retail support, catering, special events, and holidays.
- Ensure service standards are met while working to achieve operational excellence.
- Assist in training staff on food, beverage, service, hospitality, and other applicable topics.
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date training materials and developing effective training strategies.
- Guest Relations and Facility Maintenance
- Create and maintain a culture that ensures guest needs are met at every point of their Sofra experience.
- Ensure the facility is clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing at all times.
- Respond to guest inquiries and complaints.
- Maintain front of house staff to-do lists and work with the General Manager to keep the menu up-to-date.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of supervisory and/or training experience.
- At least 1 year of barista experience.
- Ability to work full-time (approximately 45 hours/week).
- Availability to work weekends and holidays.
- Treat customers and co-workers with courtesy and respect.
- Passion for hospitality and the overall guest experience.
- Ability to work in a clean and organized fashion.
- Ability to work as a team and take direction from multiple managers.
- Ability to deal successfully with multitasking and be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment.
- Desire to learn and grow with the company.
- Strong attention to detail and positive attitude.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Desire for long-term employment.
