Cranleigh STEM is a pioneering start-up dedicated to developing innovative, carbon-negative fuels. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemical Engineer to join our team in Gloucester, where you will play a crucial role in leading the scale-up of our novel technology.

Senior Chemical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement advanced models to simulate the behavior of chemical reactors under various conditions, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Lead the build of our demonstrator, managing Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) projects with precision and expertise.
  • Analyze gas flow dynamics to optimize process performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.
  • Design and implement processes for temperature measurement and control within the reactor environment, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Collaborate with our research team to troubleshoot process-related issues, implementing continuous improvement strategies to enhance process efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the scaling-up of our carbon-negative technology, ensuring it meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Document all design work and process improvements meticulously, contributing to innovation and patent applications as required.

Senior Chemical Engineer Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience working on medium to large-scale projects, with a strong track record of delivering results.
  • FEED project experience, with a deep understanding of Front-End Engineering Design principles.
  • Strong experience in modeling and simulation of chemical processes, particularly reactor behavior, gas flows, and temperature control.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Passion for sustainability and climate technology innovations, with a commitment to driving positive change.
  • Experience with ASPEN and SolidWorks is highly desirable.
