POSITION SUMMARY:

The Service Engineer (SE) is tasked with a comprehensive range of responsibilities, primarily focusing on:

Hands-on maintenance and repair of water treatment systems.

Conducting scheduled service visits as well as unplanned service interventions outside of standard contracts.

Responding to emergency calls, occasionally beyond regular working hours.

Repairing customer equipment and installing new systems as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To perform installation, commissioning, servicing, calibration, troubleshooting, and replacement of components and equipment on all assigned projects.

To efficiently conduct routine maintenance on equipment and systems included in the periodic service contracts assigned to them, ensuring cost-effectiveness.

To utilize problem-solving skills to address technical and application issues on-site with minimal disruption to clients.

To enhance skills and knowledge beyond basic training, servicing and repairing equipment as directed by the Service Manager, with necessary training provided.

To develop a thorough understanding of the equipment manufactured, supplied, and supported by the company, including third-party equipment, and gain insight into their applications.

To maintain a solid grasp of administrative processes related to the role, utilizing company-provided tools and systems while adhering to company policies and guidelines.

To generate detailed and accurate service reports upon completion of each job, outlining the work performed and any recommendations for further action.

To ensure all tasks are completed promptly and in accordance with company policies and procedures.

To request spare parts and replacements from the office/stores, maintaining stock in line with company protocols.

To acquire proficiency in using specialized tools and testing equipment relevant to the role, ensuring all company equipment is kept secure and in good working condition.

To actively promote the company's products and services, providing sales leads to the office, while maintaining a high-quality company image and integrity while on customer premises.

When appropriate and approved by the Service Manager, to assist in the formal on-site training of trainees and provide technical expertise to resolve site issues as needed.

To attend training sessions as directed by the Service Manager.

To be available for work outside of normal hours as required, including weekends, and participate in the company's emergency call-out rota.

To be prepared to undertake short-term assignments across the UK with reasonable notice.

To contribute to achieving company strategies, commitments, and objectives, as well as the Service Team's KPIs and personal targets.

To take responsibility for personal health and safety and that of others affected by their actions, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, Security, and Site policies.

To report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or malpractice to management and assist in investigations and corrective actions.

To maintain the allocated company vehicle, ensuring it is roadworthy and meets statutory regulations and company standards.

  • The role may also require undertaking any other duties within the scope of this position as reasonably requested by the line manager, in line with business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

Essential:

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification – Level 3 or higher.

Experience in plant maintenance and fault finding.

Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

General computer literacy.

Preferred:

Electro-mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.

ONC or HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or similar qualifications.

18th Edition Qualified.

Experience with water purification systems and equipment.

Previous relevant experience as a mobile service engineer.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must hold a full valid UK driving license.

Ability to travel within the region with occasional overnight stays as required.

Once fully competent and inducted, the postholder will be included in an on-call rota, which may involve occasional out-of-hours, weekend work, and emergency call-outs.
