DMWS is an international charity that has been providing medical welfare support to the armed forces community for over 80 years. We support all members of the Armed Forces Community across the services, including serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and their family members/carers.
Job Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a full-time Welfare Officer (WO) to be based at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. The WO will work closely with clinical teams across the NHS Lothian region, tackling non-clinical issues that can negatively impact recovery and overall wellbeing, such as mental health concerns, substance abuse, social isolation, inappropriate housing, homelessness, or financial worries.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with clinical teams to identify and address non-clinical issues affecting recovery and wellbeing
- Provide support to veterans and their families, connecting them with relevant services and resources
- Develop strong relationships with local health and social care partnerships to ensure seamless support
- Collaborate with discharge hub coordinators to ensure effective discharge planning
