About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Utilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Unilever. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and engineering support for our site facilities, equipment, and systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and engineering support for site facilities, equipment, and systems, including contractor control.
- Contribute to ensuring compliance with planned statutory and maintenance activities, including contractor control.
- Drive improved performance for cost, service, and quality for the above.
- Implement and manage site infrastructure projects, such as utility system upgrades and energy reduction projects.
- Oversee electrical and mechanical installation works associated with the utility infrastructure.
- Report to the Site Services and Sustainability Manager and work closely with the Engineering department, operations, quality, H&S, Project team, and external contractors.
Requirements
- Previous experience in facility equipment maintenance, preferably with compressors, steam boilers, substations, electrical distribution systems, fire protection systems, CHP plant, sprinkler systems, lifts, lighting, commercial plumbing systems, industrial cooling towers, effluent management, and HVAC systems.
- Experience in various statutory requirements, including electrical inspections, PSSR, LOLER, emergency lighting, legionella, health and safety at work act, and electricity at work regulations.
- Understanding of building management systems (Johnson controls/TREND).
- Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving abilities using RCA tools.
- Demonstrates a genuine appetite to lead activities to improve asset reliability.
- Engineering background essential, with a minimum of City & Guilds level 3 qualification.
- Electrical qualification (City & Guilds Level 3/18th edition BS7671).
- Good communication and decision-making skills.
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Projects.
- Ability to prioritize workload based on impact to site.
- Strong organizational skills, ensuring all service reports are filed appropriately and available for regular audits.
- Understanding of CDM regulations and health and safety at work act.
Desirable Qualifications
- IOSH Managing safely/NEBOSH.
- City and Guilds level 3 – electrical/mechanical qualification.
- 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations BS7671.
- Inspection and Testing 2391.
- Project management training.
- Permit to work training.
