About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead our team of maintenance engineers in a heavy engineering environment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing plant breakdown situations, planned maintenance activity, onsite contractors, critical spares, and capex plant-related projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of maintenance engineers to ensure efficient and effective maintenance of specialist plant and equipment.
  • Coordinate plant breakdown situations and develop plans to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee planned maintenance activity, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Manage onsite contractors and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve maintenance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Mentor and train apprentices to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Issue permits and manage statutory inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A mechanical qualification, ideally to HND standard.
  • Proven experience of managing a maintenance team in a heavy engineering environment, such as oil refineries, recycling, power generation, chemical processing, quarrying, or steel processing.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
